Other Helpful Supports
York International is a hub for international students, supporting you from arrival in Canada to graduation. They can support you with pre-arrival preparation, orientation, immigration advising, health insurance, student success programs and building community here in Toronto.
Our Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion upholds human rights and removes barriers through teaching, community engagement and case-resolution services. The Centre promotes and builds a respectful, equitable, diverse and inclusive university community.
The Community Safety Department works closely with our community partners to provide services that ensure the safety of York's campuses, including goSAFE, emergency preparedness, on-campus security services and the YorkU Safety App.
York's multiple writing centres offer one-to-one writing and English as a Second Language (ESL) support, as well as disability support, workshops and group sessions.
We encourage commuting to York as an alternative to single occupant vehicles and support community members taking public transit, carpooling, biking and walking. York offers shuttle services, bike rentals on-campus and a carsharing program.
We have two childcare centres at our Keele campus for the children of our students and employees. Both provide a caring and educational environment. The welcomes children aged 6 weeks to 10 years old. The offers care to children aged 18 months to five years old.
Research and Study in our Libraries
We believe that are much more than places to house materials or access them electronically. Our six libraries have 3 million-plus printed volumes, 750,000 e-books and more than 90,000 full text e-journals. We also have helpful librarians who can guide you with your research and references. In addition to answering 150,000 in-person reference questions each year, they are available via booked consultations, e-mail, text and live chat. They also host research seminars, workshops and guest lectures.
Our libraries are also comfortable spaces in which you can study, with 500 computer workstations and 2,900 study seats.
