Alternate Offers of Admission
Congratulations on your Alternate Offer to York! Alternate offers give you the option of admission to a different, but closely related, program than the one to which you had originally applied.
Why are alternate offers made by ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø?
There may be several reasons we may have made you an alternate program offer.
Supplementary Application Components
Admission to some programs is quite competitive and can be based on supplementary, non-academic information that is assessed along with your academic standing (GPA). For example, an audition or portfolio review is included in the assessment for BFA majors within the School of Arts, Media, Performance and Design, and a timed video Supplementary Application is assessed along with GPA for admission to the Schulich School of Business.
Minimum Required Final Grade Average
Some students do not meet the requirements for their programs of choice because their high-school averages fell below the minimum required final average for their York degree program. Visit the Admitted Students Website for additional information about meeting your minimum grade requirements to maintain your offer of admission.
Note: Minimum grade averages for a college or university transfer student may be different.
Missing Course Prerequisites
Applicants may also receive an alternative offer because their transcripts did not show evidence of one or more of the prerequisite courses required for the program.
Program at Capacity
If you apply for admission after ºÚÁϸ£ÀûÍø’s application deadline for guaranteed consideration, some programs will have reached their enrolment capacity. You raise your chances of admission by submitting a complete application package as early as possible. View Application Deadlines
